Stay at Casa Julia in Todos Santos Mexico

Hello to our Baja Sur travelers!

I hope everyone’s kicking it fine in this 2024. You know how we’re all about Baja, right? Well, we were dying to spill the beans on our latest adventure in the rad town of Todos Santos.

Why stay in Casa Julia?

Built in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in town, Casa Julia is a perfect place to appreciate and enjoy the natural landscape of Todos Santos (the gorgeous palm tree fields!), far from the noise of cars and the characteristic hustle and bustle of this semi-urban area.

But maybe, aside from the location, the coolest thing about this spot is the amazing views. You can check out the cutest neighbors from the entire Pacific Ocean right here: the humpback whales. Whether we were chilling on the big rooftop deck or strolling down to the beach right in front, these sea giants put on an awesome underwater show for us during our time at Casa Julia.

Plus, I gotta mention there are other fresh, natural areas that are all about the culture and history of this awesome place. Turns out Casa Julia’s in a prime spot for eco-adventures; Sierra La Laguna and Punta Lobos are wicked locations no traveler should skip when hitting up Southern Baja— I mean it!

About the Villa

Casa Julia features three villas grouped together, meaning that, even if you are not planning to book a grand space, you still can enjoy most of it for a lower price— something cool if you need to rent for several days.

For us, it was a sweet surprise to stumble upon this place because we got to have a blast in Todos Santos and enjoy some top-notch digs for a reasonable price.

The truth is, we think Casa Julia is one of those B&B that ticks all the boxes for any modern traveler, whether it’s for group hangs with friends and fam, a cozy getaway with your significant other, or just flying solo—nothing wrong with that!

Ready to start your day with leisurely mornings enjoying coffee on Casa Julia’s sun-soaked patio or end it with stargazing under the clear Baja skies? Come and immerse yourself in the relaxed atmosphere of this enchanting coastal town!

Where is it located?

This lovely stay is situated in an emerging area rather than the town’s central hub, surrounded by a burgeoning community of beach houses, restaurants, and quaint coffee places—right up our street!

The area is called El Batequito (it is not shown on Google Maps), and it is a bit further north from downtown Todos Santos, where you can find other gorgeous stays like Casa Hermanos, Hidden Leaf Baja, and Casa Santos—wait for these reviews on 2025!

How to get to Casa Julia

Because this area is so undeveloped, getting there could be a bit confusing unless you are familiar with the town; it is best to have a quick read of the descriptions below to ensure you are heading in the right direction.

From Los Cabos

This is probably the most common route for visitors, and all you need is to drive 1 hour north through the Mexican Federal Highway 19 until you reach downtown Todos Santos and turn right onto Av. Gral. Topete, continue straight until this street changes its name to Horizonte (you must turn to the left here).

Driving along Horizonte Street, you will see places like La Esquina (a charming eatery) and Restaurant Logan&Logan; make a right turn and proceed along Las Playitas Street for approximately 8 minutes, and you will arrive at your destination.

From La Paz

Because we were driving from La Paz, our route was slightly different. If this is the area you are coming from too, you’ll have to drive 1 hour south through Highway 19 until you get to downtown Todos Santos; the rest is the same as above.

Casa Julia Features

When reaching the premises, we discovered ample guest-designated parking space (for 4 cars, to be exact), a notable amenity considering that access to this location is practically essential with a vehicle.

As I described before, this beautiful villa comprises three distinct units that can be utilized either collectively or independently. We’ll describe the three villas below:

Villa Julia

Situated on the right side of the property, this is the grand unit, and, of course, it is our top choice for accommodation when we travel as a group; generously designed to host up to 6 people comfortably if needed:

  • Elegant hand-crafted dining table
  • Fully equipped rustic kitchen
  • Sizable three-door fridge-freezer
  • TV room area with a sofa bed
  • Master bedroom with private bathroom (includes a bathtub)
  • Spare bedroom
  • Spare bathroom with shower

On the outside, Villa Julia boasts a chic rooftop terrace, generously sized for hosting BBQs and intimate gatherings. The highlight is the breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean that will captivate you throughout your entire stay.

Villa Eden

Situated on the left side, the second villa is perfect for couples or solo adventurers as it is designed to accommodate a maximum of 2 people:

  • Smaller yet delightful 4-people dining table
  • Compact kitchen
  • Spacious double bedroom complete with a TV with pool view
  • 1 Full bathroom
  • 1 Outdoor seating area

Villa Sunset

On top of Villa Eden, this cozy condo is definitely a favorite of mine; hence, I still can’t get over the stunning views—one side is adorned with a lush palm tree field (palmar), while the other opens up to the majestic Pacific Ocean. The cherry on top, waking up with the calming sound of its crashing waves:

  • Small 4-people dining table
  • Compact kitchen
  • Double bedroom with TV (palmar and ocean views)
  • 1 Full bathroom
  • 1 Outdoor seating area
  • 360-View rooftop terrace

Outdoor space & swimming pool

When we travel to a destination like Baja, having an outdoor chilling spot is a must; otherwise, the objective is defeated! Don’t you agree?

Well, Casa Julia truly was a delightful holiday home, portraying an authentic Mexican vibe, featuring endemic desert plants, sandy soil and Baja-style decorations. This ample space counts with a handy outdoor shower, perfect for a quick rinse after a beach morning before you dive into the swimming pool for a refreshing dip.

The swimming pool totally fits the bill for what you’d need at a vacation pad. It’s not too deep, plus it’s got a kiddie pool, making it great for family hangs. Pro tip: If you’re used to warmer weather, it might feel a bit chilly during December and January.

What’s Around?

As we mentioned earlier, Casa Julia sits in a blossoming neighborhood, making it essential to pinpoint handy places to enhance your stay. Thankfully, we’ve already done some digging, and we hope this info aids in planning your getaway at this lovely rental.

Restaurants and Bars

To start with, I would love to share places we have already visited, of course, to share our take on food taste and experience. Then, I’ll mention other nice places worthy of any visitor to try (according to reviews and location).

After a long drive from La Paz, hunger led us to ponder where we could enjoy a swift yet delightful dinner. Just before stumbling upon Casa Julia, we spotted the charming 5 Tacos and Beer restaurant and couldn’t help ourselves. We came in and loved the concept— We’re glad we ate here!

The day after, we decided to have a Baja brunch, and we went to the same area where we found the tacos and tried a cute authentic French-styled bakery & coffee shop, Bonjour Madame, and ordered fabulous poached eggs on toast.

Other cool places we recommend nearby are Tony’s Fish Tacos, Poke Loko and Landi’s Restaurant, and a bit further, you’ll find Palmas del Pacifico (sushi and seafood dishes), and Cabañas Las Tunas & Coffee Shop, a brunch place with excellent reviews.

Super Markets

In case you are planning to stay longer than a week, it could be helpful to spot a good super market near by to get some essentials and extra food— Todos Santos’ food scene could be pricy for some visitors, specially around El Batequito and Las Playitas. These are good places we found on our jorney:

  • Salgado’s Market
  • Mercado El Sol II
  • Frutería Castillo

Other Shops and Businesses

  • PanVero Whole Bakery & Elixirs (gluten-free bakery and healthy juices)
  • México Gourmet-Todos Santos (Mezcal shop)
  • Scooters Todos Santos (Scooter Rental)

Our Take

Well, hoping this info opens the door to a new, interesting adventure in Baja Sur for all of our readers; we cannot leave without saying that Casa Julia was one of those places that made the difference when we visited the charming town of Todos Santos.

Thanks for checking out our experience! We’re stoked to say we hope this is just the beginning of a bunch of awesome new reviews of cool spots for all of us Baja lovers to come and check out!

Until the next post!
